ABOUT ME:
Hi everyone, my name is Monty Banks. I’m originally from South Pasadena and am the founder of Choice Bodyworks. I’ve been doing sports massage for 12 years and earned my license from the school of Integrative Psycho-Structural Bodywork (IPSB) in Los Angeles. This school of holistic bodywork taught me how to protect my body and mental health while also giving me the resources to practice bodywork for as long as I would like. I also took a more sports/comprehensive approach to my training by working in two chiropractic offices and a sports rehab clinic. I have also spent countless hours trading with personal trainers, physical therapist, chiropractors, other massage therapist, dieticians, mental health experts, acupuncturist and yogi’s to better my understanding of the body and know when to refer my clients to other professionals.
On a personal note, I was a college water polo player (Junior College All-America) and Swimmer, and have done sports ranging from tennis, basketball (adult leagues and pickup games), Crossfit, hot yoga, F45, Basecamp, Tai Chi trainings even the ALC bike ride from San Fran to Los Angeles. This has allowed me to be able to relate with my clients and what their bodies are going through. As a 40 year old therapist who used to get injuries (torn meniscus, ankle sprains, low back pain, strained shoulder/neck) in my 20’s and early 30’s I know what it takes to live pain free and perform at a high level! Because I plan to continue showing up 20 year old’s on the basketball court for at least another 10 years and crushing it on the golf course for another 30!
I also love to volunteer and donate to charities ranging from after school programs for at risk youth, building water wells in Africa and donating some of our profits to local charities and giving free sessions to unsung heroes in our community.
